While earning a Master of Urban Design degree at UNC Charlotte, Maya (she/hers) became deeply interested in affordable housing and the impact of urban renewal policies on predominantly Black neighborhoods. This led her to a career focused on addressing housing disparities and promoting upward mobility within the Carolinas. As the Director of Operations & Impact at Give Impact, Maya is committed to making housing more affordable, and is passionate about ensuring that community voices are heard and acknowledged at all levels in all projects. Maya’s work emphasizes equity and inclusion, particularly in neighborhood revitalization and addressing food insecurities. She envisions a world where everyone has access to safe housing and the basic resources essential to living a healthy life.
