Peter (he/his) is a human rights advocate, community organizer, and local gov nerd. He thrives when he can spend time around other people, talking, sharing, building, listening, and asking questions. A lifelong community advocate, Peter got his first taste of engaging with his neighbors as a volunteer for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, before he was even old enough to vote. He went on to work for a number of local governments as a civil servant, as well as with/against local government as a community organizer. He has worked on projects surrounding criminal justice reform, green infrastructure, cybersecurity, public sector innovation and education. Inspired by his immigrant parents and motivated by a sincere hope for systemic change, Peter ran for city council in his adopted home of Peoria, Illinois in 2019 and 2021. Despite losing, he considers both campaigns successful for the community engagement and personal growth they fostered. Recently, Peter returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is currently focused on aligning his identity, purpose and career. Peter holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in human rights and democratization, and a master’s degree in public administration.
